Alpine Launches 350hp A110 R Ultime: Limited to 110 Units, Priced at £200k
Before Alpine transitions to its electric future, it’s giving its iconic A110 sports car one final, spectacular send-off with the A110 R Ultime—a limited-edition model priced at an eye-watering £200,000. As the most extreme version of the A110 yet, this run-out model pushes the boundaries of the lightweight sports car before the brand switches to electrification.
Limited to just 110 units, the A110 R Ultime elevates every aspect of Alpine’s renowned performance car. While its design is striking, what really grabs attention is the upgraded powertrain. For the first time, the A110 gets a gearbox upgrade, ditching the familiar seven-speed DCT in favor of a tougher six-speed dual-clutch unit known as the DW6. This gearbox is necessary to handle the increased torque provided by new turbo components (including a revised compressor and turbine).
The Ultime’s 1.8-liter turbocharged engine now produces an impressive 350hp and 310lb ft of torque, a significant boost of 50hp and 59lb ft over previous A110 models. This newfound power translates to blistering performance, with the Ultime sprinting from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds. However, Alpine advises using premium fuel, specifically RON102, to maximize the car’s capabilities.
But the A110 R Ultime isn’t just about raw power. It’s been reengineered from the ground up to enhance handling and driving dynamics. Adjustable Ohlins dampers, bespoke AP Racing brakes with new ducts and race-inspired pads, and an additional 160kg of downforce compared to the A110 R Turini ensure that the Ultime delivers an unmatched driving experience. The car rides on forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Cup tires, with an Akrapovic exhaust system adding to its high-performance appeal.
What really sets the A110 R Ultime apart is the unprecedented level of customization available to buyers. Alpine offers two tiers of personalization: Atelier and Atelier Sur Mesure. Atelier provides 27 exterior paint options and four Alcantara shades for the interior, with customizable stitching, dashboard, and floor mats. Atelier Sur Mesure takes it a step further with nine additional Alcantara colors, 10 leather choices, and options for bespoke embroidery, embossing, and braiding. Even the exterior carbon fiber can be customized in various colors, allowing buyers to create a truly unique A110 R Ultime.
At the Paris Motor Show, Alpine showcased a special version called the "La Bleue" edition. Only 15 units of this hand-finished gradient blue design—combining Alpine Vision Blue and Abysse Blue—will be produced. The price for this limited edition? A staggering €330,000 (£276,000). The remaining 95 units of the A110 R Ultime are priced slightly lower at €265,000 (£222,000), making them appear almost like a bargain in comparison.
