Seven-Seater Tesla Model Y Hits European Markets: Everything You Need to Know

Tesla has officially launched a seven-seater option for the Model Y in Europe, available exclusively for the Model Y Long Range with all-wheel drive. In Germany, this new configuration starts at €57,490, providing more versatility for families and those who need extra seating capacity.

Deliveries and Pricing Tesla announced that deliveries of the seven-seat Model Y Long Range will begin this quarter across Europe. Customers can already find the option in the configurator on Tesla’s website. For an additional €2,500, buyers can upgrade from the standard five-seat version to the seven-seater. Furthermore, the seven-seater can be equipped with a white interior for an extra €1,200, adding a stylish touch to the vehicle’s design.

Design and Seating Configuration The seven-seater version includes two foldable, forward-facing seats in the third row. Tesla highlights the ease of access to the third row, facilitated by buttons on the second-row backrests. By pressing the button, the second-row seats slide forward and fold down, allowing easier entry and exit for passengers. The third row also features two USB-C ports, enabling passengers to charge their devices.

Cargo Space Adjustments Naturally, the additional seating impacts the overall cargo capacity. When all seven seats are in use, the luggage compartment offers 363 litres of space, enough for two small suitcases. Combined with the 117-litre front trunk (frunk), the total storage space reaches 480 litres. If the third-row seats are folded down, the boot expands to 753 litres, compared to 854 litres for the five-seater model. When fully loaded to the roof, the seven-seater provides a maximum storage capacity of 2,040 litres, slightly less than the five-seater’s 2,158 litres. The towing capacity remains unchanged at 1,600 kilograms.

Tesla’s Vision for Family SUVs Tesla describes the Model Y as the ideal family SUV, designed with versatility and practicality in mind. "The Model Y was created to be the perfect family vehicle, suitable for both daily commutes and long-distance travel," Tesla states. "With the introduction of the seven-seater option in Germany, we’re expanding its flexibility. This version is perfect for families who need extra room for kids, friends, and all their gear."

Built in Germany The seven-seater Model Y will be manufactured at Tesla’s Giga Berlin plant in Brandenburg. While the seven-seat configuration is currently available only with the Long Range all-wheel-drive variant, it is unclear if Tesla plans to offer the same seating option for other versions of the Model Y in the future.

UK Pricing In the UK, the seven-seater option comes with a £2,500 premium. The Model Y Long Range Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive starts at £51,000 with a five-seat layout and £53,500 with the seven-seat configuration, offering customers an affordable upgrade for more passenger space.

With the introduction of this new seating option, Tesla is reinforcing its commitment to catering to the needs of families and customers who seek both performance and practicality in their electric SUVs.
