Harley-Davidson Brake Line Defect: A Serious Safety Concern

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has assigned the campaign number 24V753000 to this recall. The issue centers on the possibility of the front brake lines coming into contact with the fuel tank, potentially causing damage over time. If the brake line is damaged, it could lead to a brake fluid leak, resulting in a loss of front brake functionality—a critical safety risk for riders.

Models Affected by the Recall

The recall specifically impacts the following Harley-Davidson models:

  • 2022 Harley-Davidson FXRST

These models are equipped with brake lines that may not be properly positioned, leading to the potential hazard. Harley-Davidson is urging owners of these motorcycles to get their bikes inspected to avoid any dangerous situations that could arise from the brake line issue.

Free Remedy Available for Affected Owners

To resolve the problem, Harley-Davidson dealers will inspect the front brake lines on the affected motorcycles and replace any damaged lines at no cost to the owner. The company will begin notifying affected customers via mail, with letters expected to be sent out by October 21, 2024.

Motorcycle owners who are concerned about the recall or have questions are encouraged to contact Harley-Davidson's customer service at (414) 343-4056. The reference number for this recall is 0187.

Safety First: Why Addressing This Issue Matters

Motorcycle safety is paramount, and a loss of braking power can have severe consequences. Harley-Davidson’s proactive approach in recalling and fixing these models highlights the company’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its riders.
